Blocks, Balance, and Momentum: Valkyries Beat Atlanta in Final Home Match

ORLANDO, Fla. — The Orlando Valkyries gave their home crowd one final victory to celebrate, defeating the Atlanta Vibe in four sets on Friday night in their final home match of the 2026 season.

Orlando won the match 25-16, 25-18, 21-25, 25-19, improving the mood inside the arena after carrying momentum from their previous five-set win over Grand Rapids. The Valkyries came out sharp from the opening serve, controlled the first two sets, and then responded with poise after Atlanta extended the match by taking the third.

For a team closing out its home schedule, this was more than just another win. It was a complete performance built on blocking, disciplined swings, and timely defensive plays.

Orlando Starts Fast

The Valkyries wasted little time setting the tone. Orlando opened the first set with control at the net and steady offensive pressure, taking the frame 25-16. The second set followed a similar rhythm, with the Valkyries pulling away after the midway point to win 25-18.

Atlanta pushed back in the third, taking advantage of Orlando errors and finding more rhythm offensively. The Vibe claimed the set 25-21, forcing the Valkyries to regroup.

Orlando answered in the fourth with one of its strongest stretches of the night. The Valkyries jumped ahead early, built separation, and closed the match with a 25-19 set win.

Abercrombie Leads the Attack

Brittany Abercrombie delivered another strong performance for Orlando, leading both teams with 18 points. She finished with 14 kills on 35 attempts, hitting .314, while also adding three blocks.

Her efficiency gave Orlando a reliable scoring option throughout the match, especially when the Valkyries needed clean swings to stop Atlanta runs.

Kaz Brown was also a major factor. Brown finished with 14 points, recording 9 kills on a strong .412 hitting efficiency, along with a match-high 5 blocks. Her presence at the net helped Orlando control Atlanta’s attack and create pressure across all four sets.

Natalie Foster added 10 points, while Lindsey Vander Weide contributed across the floor with 6 kills, 17 digs, and 3 blocks.

Blocking Defines the Night

The biggest story of the match was Orlando’s blocking.

The Valkyries finished with 18 total blocks, compared to Atlanta’s 7. That defensive wall changed the match, forcing the Vibe into difficult attacking situations and helping Orlando slow down Atlanta’s rhythm.

Brown led the way with five blocks, while Abercrombie, Foster, Vander Weide, and others contributed to a balanced defensive effort.

Atlanta was led by Taylor Smith, who finished with 15 points, including 13 kills. Madolyn Isringhausen added 14 points, and Aiko Jones contributed 10.

Final Home Impression

With one match remaining in the 2026 season, Orlando now turns its attention to the road finale against the Dallas Pulse on Sunday, May 3.

But before closing the season away from home, the Valkyries gave their Orlando fans a final home performance worth remembering, a four-set victory built on energy, defense, and one of the team’s strongest blocking efforts of the year.
